Hyperpigmentation is caused by an overproduction of melanin, leading to darkened skin. Factors such as mechanical friction (intertrigo), hormonal changes (e.g., pregnancy, PCOS), genetic predispositions, insulin resistance (e.g., acanthosis nigricans), obesity, and UV rays contribute to this condition.
